Session Goal: The goal of this session was to explore and evaluate cost-effective cloud storage solutions as alternatives to Google Storage for capacities ranging from 100 GB to 500 GB.

Key Activities:

  • Researched and documented various affordable cloud storage services such as IDrive, Wasabi, Backblaze, pCloud, MEGA, and Sync, focusing on pricing and performance.
  • Compared security features of cloud storage services including encryption, compliance, and zero-knowledge security.
  • Recommended pCloud with client-side encryption and Backblaze B2 for users with different security needs.
  • Investigated Google Storage options, including Google One, Google Workspace, and Google Cloud Storage, focusing on pricing, features, and encryption methods.
  • Developed a backup automation script using bash and rclone for Google Drive, including safety checks and encryption steps.

  • Identified and compared multiple cost-effective cloud storage solutions with detailed insights into their security features.
