Description
Session Goal
Define a practical, low-risk production system for turning Midjourney-generated images into large-format wall art for home/Airbnb use, with emphasis on print quality, modularity, and replaceability rather than a perfect gallery finish.
Key Activities
- Reframed large-format art as an end-to-end production pipeline: image quality, substrate choice, protective front, backing, frame, and mounting all affect perceived premium quality.
- Compared print-production options for 80×120 cm vertical pieces, including matte large-format printing, fine-art giclée, foamboard, PVC espumado/Sintra, acrylic, and framing/mounting approaches.
- Defined a modular wall-art strategy: use cheap, intentional-looking pieces that can be replaced easily, supporting iterative decor testing with low regret.
- Built a workflow for extracting visual families from Midjourney moodboards and converting them into coherent print series for different rooms.
- Established selection criteria and rejection rules for print candidates, prioritizing compositions that survive large-format scaling and avoid issues like realistic faces, generated text, or overly detailed scenes.
- Added procurement guidance for Argentina/Buenos Aires, including a strategy to request 3-5 comparable quotes, start with a small sample batch, and choose the first acceptable supplier.
Achievements
- Clarified the technical requirements for a premium-looking 80×120 cm print, including substrate, finish, and mounting considerations.
- Identified a practical first-batch approach: prototype at smaller sizes, then promote successful pieces to larger formats.
- Produced a decision framework for selecting images, materials, and room placement across bathroom, bedroom, office, hallway, and living spaces.
- Established a sourcing strategy that balances cost, durability, and visual quality for the first production run.
Pending Tasks
- Verify Midjourney usage constraints and confirm the best export/file-prep settings for print production.
- Collect 3-5 supplier quotes for sample prints and compare foamboard vs. PVC espumado/Sintra.
- Test one or more candidate images at smaller scale before committing to the 80×120 cm format.
- Finalize hanging/mounting method and print-shop wording for the first batch.
