Description

Session Goal

The goal of this session was to configure and troubleshoot PostgreSQL for email analysis, ensuring that it is set up correctly for structured email storage and full-text search capabilities using Elasticsearch.

Key Activities

  • Database Selection: Evaluated various databases like PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, SQLite, and MongoDB for querying and analyzing emails.
  • Setup Instructions: Set up PostgreSQL for structured storage and Elasticsearch for full-text search, including installation and data synchronization using Python.
  • Troubleshooting: Addressed PostgreSQL authentication and service issues through detailed troubleshooting steps, including checking service status, managing users, resetting passwords, and resolving startup issues.
  • Supabase Integration: Managed PostgreSQL instances with Supabase, resolving conflicts between Supabase’s and system PostgreSQL installations.

Achievements

  • Successfully set up PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch for email management.
  • Resolved multiple PostgreSQL authentication and service issues.
  • Integrated Supabase PostgreSQL with existing systems, resolving port conflicts.

Pending Tasks

  • Further testing of the PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch setup to ensure seamless data synchronization and retrieval.
  • Explore additional database optimization techniques for handling large volumes of email data efficiently.
