Session Goal
The primary aim of this session was to enhance the Terra project’s configuration management and file path handling for better maintainability and consistency.
Key Activities
- Updated the
config.pyfile to improve organization and consistency in logging and file management. - Explored the use of SEEN_EMAILS_FILE for email processing to prevent duplicate processing by tracking email IDs and timestamps.
- Utilized grep commands to identify file IO operations, aiding in the redesign of storage and logging.
- Developed a plan to refactor hardcoded paths in the codebase, transitioning to a centralized configuration system.
- Translated an old YAML configuration into a modern Python configuration file, focusing on best practices and security.
- Identified and fixed inconsistencies in file paths across scripts, replacing them with configuration variables.

- Successfully updated the configuration management for the Terra project, ensuring improved organization and security.
- Established a clear plan for refactoring hardcoded paths, which enhances maintainability and code quality.
