Description

Session Goal

The session aimed to implement and test various Python functions for text ingestion and processing, focusing on file handling and data parsing.

Key Activities

  • Text Ingestion: Implemented a Python script to read and print the first 2000 characters of a file using UTF-8 encoding.
  • Function Display: Displayed the output of ‘parse_args’ and ‘main’ functions to understand their structure and behavior in the ingestion process.
  • Data Review: Developed a method to print the last 120 lines of ingested data for quick review.
  • Line Filtering: Created a code snippet to filter lines containing the substring ‘exclude_household’.
  • Function Search: Used regex to find and print sections of text around the ‘build_ledger_base’ function definition.
  • Line Extraction: Extracted and printed the first 25 lines from a text input using string manipulation.

Achievements

Successfully implemented and tested multiple Python functions for text ingestion and processing, enhancing the ability to handle and analyze text data efficiently.
