Description

Session Goal: The session aimed to design and implement a robust framework for event bus architecture and client integration, focusing on consistency, reliability, and efficiency in event-driven systems.

Key Activities:

  1. Defined the structure for a daily event bus manifest JSON, ensuring consistency in event logging.
  2. Outlined a reliable event bus architecture, emphasizing a local append-only store as the ground truth.
  3. Set up a shared ‘bus home’ directory structure for managing event data.
  4. Developed a complete codebase for a thin local bus host with a command-line interface.
  5. Initialized a new repository for the ‘buses_host’ project using a bash script.
  6. Prioritized event producers in an automation rollout for operational advantages.
  7. Integrated event publishing with minimal invasiveness and focus on maintainability.
  8. Designed a lightweight event emission client named buses-client for stable integration.
  9. Automated the setup of a Python package for ‘buses-client’.

Achievements:

  • Successfully outlined and initiated the framework for event bus and client integration.
  • Established clear guidelines and scripts for repository and package setup.

Pending Tasks:

  • Further testing and validation of the event bus and client integration.
  • Complete the phased integration plan for high leverage producers and consumers.
