Description

Session Goal

The primary goal of this session was to enhance the maintainability and functionality of existing Python scripts used in data processing and log management.

Key Activities

  • Bash Scripting: Executed various Bash commands to list files and extract specific lines from Python files for review.
  • Refactoring kbctl.py: Separated compute and publish functionalities into distinct modules, addressing import issues and improving code organization.
  • Patch Implementation: Applied patches to ingest_logs.py and ingest_sessions.py to update import statements, add functions for timestamp conversion, and improve session data normalization.
  • Log Processing: Developed structured queries for log ingestion, session normalization, and publishing processes.
  • CLI Development: Streamlined the kbctl_compute.py module to address runtime issues and optimize command functionality.

Achievements

  • Successfully refactored and patched multiple Python scripts, enhancing their clarity and maintainability.
  • Improved the handling of session data normalization and log processing workflows.

Pending Tasks

  • Further testing and validation of the updated scripts in a production environment to ensure stability and performance.
  • Review and potentially refactor other related scripts to align with the new module structure.
