Description

Session Goal

The primary objective of this session was to debug and enhance the debt resolution functions within the existing Python scripts, focusing on the resolve_repayments and build_ledger_base() functions.

Key Activities

  • Debugging resolve_repayments: The session began with debugging the resolve_repayments function, where a verbose version was suggested to trace issues in the repayment allocation process.
  • Debt Assignment Diagnosis: A detailed analysis was conducted to identify why the debt assignment script was malfunctioning, pinpointing the absence of opening debt rows in the filtered ledger as a critical issue.
  • Data Structure Analysis: The session included diagnosing debt between PM and MI, identifying necessary data structures for effective processing.
  • Adjusting build_ledger_base(): Adjustments were made to the build_ledger_base() function to support internal debt resolution without status filtering, ensuring the integrity of the accounting pipeline.
  • Loading and Previewing Data: Multiple CSV files related to debt management were loaded into pandas DataFrames, with initial previews conducted to verify data integrity.
  • Debt Data Analysis: A comprehensive script was executed to analyze various aspects of debt data, including open items, allocations, repayments, and reconciliations.
  • Bug Analysis: The session concluded with an analysis of a critical bug in the debt allocation engine, focusing on the chronological integrity of repayments.

Achievements

  • Successfully debugged and enhanced the resolve_repayments function.
  • Identified and proposed solutions for the debt assignment issue.
  • Implemented necessary adjustments to the build_ledger_base() function.
  • Conducted initial data loading and analysis to ensure data readiness.

Pending Tasks

  • Further validation of the proposed solutions for debt assignment issues.
  • Implementation of structural improvements in the debt allocation engine to address the identified bug.
