Description

Session Goal

Clarify the public boundaries and documentation strategy for the PaperKB ecosystem, especially the relationship between paper-kb, KB, and abstract-scroller, so the prototype can be treated as a set of modular product surfaces rather than a single tangled codebase.

Key Activities

  • Reviewed the role of abstract-scroller as a static review-snapshot publisher, separating its real snapshot/validation surfaces from planned placeholders.
  • Defined the stable public surface of paper-kb, centering on chunk_set generation, API serving, and review export, while demoting stale scripts and internal storage paths.
  • Framed KB as the knowledge-processing substrate for versioned contracts, validation, ingest/analyze CLIs, and audit artifacts.
  • Reworked the ecosystem into three distinct surfaces:
    • paper-kb for corpus inspection and operator-facing workflows
    • KB for contract validation and processing
    • abstract-scroller for review snapshots
  • Identified documentation structure, integration boundaries, and canonical operator paths to reduce ambiguity and improve maintainability.
  • Noted a product-quality gap in /[[api]]/papers, specifically metadata completeness.
  • Drafted an interview-scheduling reply for a Medallia AI Engineer exploratory chat, confirming interest and proposing availability windows in Argentina time.

Achievements

  • Established a clearer modular architecture and public-surface taxonomy for the knowledge toolchain.
  • Identified the canonical operator commands and artifact inventory that should anchor future documentation.
  • Clarified that the frontend should remain inside paper-kb for now, with deeper refactors deferred until contracts and docs are hardened.
  • Surfaced a concrete next-quality target: improve metadata completeness for /[[api]]/papers.

Pending Tasks

  • Write or update module documentation for paper-kb, KB, and abstract-scroller using the newly defined public-surface boundaries.
  • Harden and canonicalize API contracts before deeper refactoring.
  • Improve /[[api]]/papers metadata completeness.
  • Continue demo hardening and documentation sequencing before broader modular refactors.
  • Follow up on the Medallia exploratory chat scheduling thread if needed.
