Description
Session Goal
Advance the Media Monitor refactor by turning the stabilized Level 2 editorial state into a first thin vertical surface: a human-usable editorial handoff packet with provenance, fallback status, and no new architectural sprawl.
Key Activities
- Reviewed a post-refactor memo describing the stabilized layered architecture: runtime workspace, contract buses, access indexes, and public snapshots.
- Interpreted the memo as a constraint-setting artifact: stop expanding architecture and instead ship one usable vertical slice.
- Defined the editorial handoff packet as the next narrow deliverable, sourced from
storage/indexes/editorial_latest.[[json]]and centered onhuman_handoff.action_candidates. - Specified implementation boundaries: read-only index consumption, no raw Level 0 data exposure, and no committing generated packet artifacts.
- Outlined output expectations for the packet, including markdown rendering, provenance tracking, fallback handling, and validation/testing coverage.
- Reviewed merge/battle-test criteria and a post-merge validation sequence to confirm the materializer is stable before moving to the next vertical.
Achievements
- Clarified the next development step as a single editorial handoff packet rather than further refactoring.
- Established the canonical source of truth for the packet and the no-raw-data constraint.
- Confirmed the materializer is considered valid when the packet is empty because upstream editorial buses are missing, not because rendering failed.
- Determined the PR can be closed/merged once it only reads the index path and avoids generated artifact commits.
Pending Tasks
- Reingest a concise validation note documenting that the empty packet reflects a closed upstream state.
- Shift attention to upstream wiring for the editorial buses so the packet can surface real candidates.
- After the handoff surface is stable, materialize the next vertical publication candidate packet.
