Description

Session Goal

Work across two threads: (1) diagnose and repair the accounting automation live-run path so the systemd-backed pipeline can execute reliably end-to-end, and (2) organize historical content on the USSR into a clean periodization for a political review.

Key Activities

  • Reviewed the accounting spine live-run setup and identified two likely failure points: an outdated systemd unit path pointing at the old repo location and an unquoted shell environment value in the wrapper/env-file flow.
  • Outlined a remediation sequence to rewire the wrapper to the new repository, validate the environment file, and rerun the pipeline end-to-end.
  • Noted that stale debt-resolution outputs may still be present and should be checked after the canonical build-all path refreshes artifacts.
  • Investigated a second accounting backend issue where the service reaches the correct repository/module path but fails due to the wrong Python environment and missing Google Sheets-related dependencies.
  • Proposed forcing the conda Python interpreter in the wrapper, verifying imports, and separately tracking why the debt-resolution latest output remains stale.
  • For the history/notes thread, defined a periodization framework for the USSR to avoid mixing distinct historical processes.
  • Suggested splitting the Soviet timeline into clear phases: revolution, consolidation, Stalinism, reform/stagnation, and dissolution.

Achievements

  • Clarified the likely root causes of the accounting live-run failure and the backend environment mismatch.
  • Established a concrete repair plan for systemd/service orchestration, environment reproducibility, and artifact refresh validation.
  • Produced a usable methodological outline for structuring a USSR chronology and political review.

Pending Tasks

  • Update the systemd wrapper to the new repo path and confirm the env file is correctly quoted and parsed.
  • Force the intended conda Python in the service wrapper and verify Google Sheets dependencies/imports.
  • Rerun the accounting pipeline end-to-end and confirm build-all refreshes all artifacts.
  • Investigate and resolve why the debt-resolution latest output remains stale.
  • Use the USSR periodization framework to draft the actual chronological review content.
