Session Goal

Define the next consolidation layer for the atom-mining / knowledge-pipeline system so that candidate outputs are materialized, normalized, grouped, and organized in a deterministic way before any semantic deduplication or embeddings are introduced.

Key Activities

  • Reframed consolidation as a small, explicit file-delta phase instead of a vague future deduplication step.
  • Specified a V1 deterministic consolidation scaffold that:
    • flattens nested atom candidate outputs into inspectable rows,
    • rejects malformed records,
    • groups candidates by atom type and normalized merge key,
    • keeps embeddings out of the first implementation.
  • Defined implementation boundaries for the Stage 4 package, including:
    • JSONL normalization and grouping,
    • CLI targets and Makefile integration,
    • tests and pipeline-contract updates,
    • generated artifact handling for sample100.
  • Reflected on the broader architecture and concluded that deterministic grouping has solved local deduplication, but the system now needs a second-level collection layer to organize groups into thematic knowledge products.
  • Proposed a deterministic collection-mapping stage to separate overlapping knowledge streams such as institutional governance, electoral analysis, economic policy, and execution/playbook material.
  • Recommended spread sampling for inventory inspection to avoid ordering bias and better expose structural patterns in source files.

Achievements

  • Clarified the technical direction for consolidation: deterministic first, semantic later.
  • Established a clean boundary between:
    • atom-level candidate materialization,
    • deterministic merge groups,
    • higher-level collections.
  • Identified that the next bottleneck is not extraction, but consolidation quality and inspectability.
  • Produced a concrete implementation plan for Stage 4, including file layout, CLI behavior, tests, and docs updates.
  • Narrowed the knowledge-organization model toward a collection map that preserves atom distinctions while enabling thematic page generation later.

  • Implement the deterministic consolidation layer for atom candidate materialization and grouping.
  • Add CLI scripts, Makefile targets, and tests for the Stage 4 workflow.
  • Generate and review group reports for sample100 before scaling further.
  • Design and implement the deterministic collection-mapping stage.
  • Decide how secondary collections should be represented without collapsing merge groups too early.
