Description

Session Goal

The session aimed to explore various aspects of database modeling and SQL exercises, focusing on designing Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and converting them into relational models across different domains.

Key Activities

  • Entity-Relationship Modeling: Designed ERDs for various domains including cinema production, mail order, movie databases, conference reviews, grade books, online auctions, and sports leagues (baseball, football, hockey).
  • Relational Model Mapping: Converted ERDs into relational models, identifying entities, relationships, primary and foreign keys, and normalizing data.
  • SQL Exercises: Practiced SQL queries for managing exam grades and flight reservations, focusing on data transformation and analysis.

Achievements

  • Successfully created detailed ERDs and relational models for diverse domains, enhancing understanding of database design principles.
  • Completed SQL exercises that reinforced skills in data manipulation and query formulation.

Pending Tasks

  • Further refinement and validation of the database models may be required to ensure they meet all business requirements and constraints.
